Labour Market in Balance Act: the 10 main proposed amendments

Although the Work and Security Act came into effect three years ago, both employees and employers indicate that some of the current laws and regulations stand in the way of a smoothly functioning labour market. 70 percent of the growing number of flex workers indicate they would rather have a permanent job.

The current Minister for Social Affairs and Employment has now introduced the Labour Market in Balance Act. With this Act he aims to make it more attractive for employers to hire employees on the basis of a permanent employment contract. The government has the intention for this Act to enter into effect on 1 January 2020.
